The Chinese Medicine Board of Australia has released Professional capabilities for Chinese medicine practitioners (the professional capabilities).
The professional capabilities identify the knowledge, skills and professional attributes needed to safely and competently practise as an acupuncturist, and/or a Chinese herbal medicine practitioner and/or a Chinese herbal dispenser in Australia. They describe the threshold level of professional capability required for both initial and continuing registration.
As part of the development of the professional capabilities, the Chinese Medicine Accreditation Committee (the Committee) undertook an extensive period of preliminary (25 March – 20 May 2019) and public (15 July – 9 September 2019) consultation.
In November 2019, the Committee recommended the Professional Capabilities for Chinese medicine practice to the Board. The Board considered and approved the professional capabilities at its December 2019 meeting.
